Fire and IceKaty ran through the streets, not looking back. She could hear the police officers shouting, then start firing.
A bullet grazed her neck, breaking into her jugular. She allowed herself to turn back just this once, to see the look of surprise on the officers' faces. Why was she still breathing, let alone standing?! Blood flowed down her throat, staining her gray T-shirt, but she hardly noticed. A grin slowly crept its way across her face as the area around her wound started to glow blue. In seconds, she was fully healed.
In shock, one officer had dropped his gun. Now, seeing that this girl was not to be messed with, he ran.
"Smart man," Katy commented as she picked up the gun. "Unlike the rest of you."
There were two policemen left. Before either could react, she had put a bullet through the head of one, then turned around to face the other. Just by looking at him, the nervous way he stood, she could tell he was new to the job. He shot at her, using up all of his ammo, but it was n
Flash ForwardDo you know what it's like to know how your friends, your family, everyone you care about, will die? Probably not. I do, though.
My name is Danny Turner, and I can see the future. Not the typical sort of seeing that you see in movies and crap. When I touch someone for the first time, I see how they will eventually die. It can last for hours in my head, but in reality be only a split-second. And there's nothing I can do to prevent the deaths.

Two cars zoomed past me--a red minivan from one side and a Bumblebee-painted Camaro from the other, both heading for the intersection. I could see into both cars clearly. In the Camaro was a guy talking on his phone. In the min

Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
that I nev
